The cast of The Following Season 2 will feature many new faces, check out all of the new cast members that have been announced so far.
*Note: Since there are descriptions of what the roles of these new characters are and who they will interact with, there are some spoilers.
Valerie Cruz, who has appeared on hit shows such as Homeland, True Blood and Dexter, will join the The Following season 2 cast as NYPD detective Gina Mendez. Her character will work closely with Agent Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore) and the FBI when a new murder spree hits the city.
Sam Underwood is going from one serial killer to another. After playing Zach Hamilton on ‘Dexter’, Underwood has landed a regular series role playing Luke. Luke is described to be a young man who is very complicated and dangerous. It hasn’t been revealed yet if he is a follower of Joe Carrol, but rest assured he isn’t going to be on Ryan Hardy’s team.
Another ‘Dexter’ cast member, Keith Carradine, will also be joining the cast for season 2 of The Following. Carradine, who played G-Man Frank Lundy on ‘Dexter’, will play the recurring role of Barry, a trusted friend of Kevin Bacon’s Ryan Hardy.
There will be a new love interest in season 2 of The Following with the casting of Connie Nielsen. “Boss” actress Nielsen will play Ryan Hardy’s (Kevin Bacon) new love interest. She will play the role of Lily Gray, an art dealer who finds herself in trouble. After Ryan helps her, a connection begins to form which causes further problems for her, which isn’t suprisingly since Ryan believes that he has a ‘death curse’ and brings trouble to anyone he gets close to.
How this role affects Claire is not exactly clear. It was already made known that Zea signed an eleventh hour deal to return for season 2, but it was not revealed how many episodes she will be in.
James McDaniel, who played Lt Arthur Fancy on NYPD Blue, will join the cast in a recurring role. He will play FBI agent Ken Phillips, who will run a task force in New York City (likely filling the role left by Agent Debra Parker’s death in the first season finale).
Season two of The Following gets a bit of a family touch, with the addition of Jessica Stroup as Ryan Hardy’s niece. The 90210 alumni will play the series regular role of Max, an NYPD intel specialest who proves useful to Hardy when the two reconnect.
Tiffany Boone from ‘Beautiful Creatures’ will play the role of an impressionable young woman named Mandy who finds herself to be the newest cult member following Joe Carroll–whether she likes it or not.
The ‘Popular’ alum, Leslie Bibb, has been cast as Jana Murphy, a suburban housewife who unexpectedly finds herself in the company of Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). It’s unknown as to whether she is one of Joe’s followers, or if she is going to be one of his victims, and is also unknown how many episodes she will appear in.
Carrie Preston who played Arlene on ‘True Blood’ is going to guest star on season 2 of The Following. She will play the role of Judy, who is Joe Carroll’s most loyal groupie.
